Let’s face it, finding a web designer isn’t hard. A simple Google search for “Web Design Preston” will return thousands of web design companies, digital agencies and freelancers – including the ones who aren’t located in Preston, Lancashire. Also, not forgetting that guy in the pub whose nephew tinkers with websites!
Web design is the combination of understanding a business, the product and service offering, the customers and goals. My approach is precisely that. For me to develop a site, I need to get to know the business inside out, and that’s why I like to work with companies in Preston and right across Lancashire.
I’ll insist on working closely with you and face-to-face is often the best way. I’m not the type of freelancer or web design company who will ask a few questions and then come back in a month or so with a website that “sort of” meets your requirements. I want you to be completely satisfied with the end result.
Web Development Process
I always start a new web design project with a kick-off session, which usually lasts a couple of hours. During which, I’ll ask a whole range of questions. Some of the questions you won’t know the answer to but don’t panic; this is what’s called fact-finding. I’ll make suggestions based on my technical and marketing expertise where I can see potential opportunities that competitors are missing.
With the knowledge and understanding I’ve gathered, I’ll then create wireframes and a website architecture document. These are great for giving you an insight into the functionality and layout of your new site. If you’re happy, I’ll then produce the website visuals to match the wireframes. At this stage, you can decide if things need to change or move around at all.
Once you’re happy with the visuals, I’ll personally hand code the visuals into a website. It will be optimised for page load speed and fully responsive for different screen sizes, so it will look and work perfectly on any device. Depending on the complexity, this can take around 4-8 weeks. Once completed, we’ll have a final review and I’ll take care of pushing the website live.
If the website I build is replacing an existing website, I can make sure all the technical SEO is taken care of, so you don’t lose any valuable authority or rankings in the search engines. I can also provide digital marketing in the form of SEO and paid advertising to help drive traffic to your website.
WordPress Web Design
All brochure and lead generation websites I build utilise the WordPress platform. WordPress is an ideal solution for simple websites, from blogs to complex portals and even enterprise websites. Every WordPress web design project I complete has technical SEO at the core, which means that it’s built using the correct markup and schema.
Understanding and harnessing the powerful features and scalability of WordPress will give you a simple, manageable website that is future-proof. Each WordPress web development project is costed at a fixed rate unique to the functionality required. I find this is much more transparent and beneficial for both parties.
