About
Hi, I'm Martyn.
I've spent my career in ecommerce — building online stores, improving how they perform, and helping businesses sell more. That covers everything from platform strategy and technical setup to SEO, conversion optimisation, and the day-to-day of running a store that actually makes money. I work with clients ranging from small independents to large multinationals.
I also run my own ecommerce businesses — a collection of sites in the horology space, selling to watch enthusiasts and collectors. So when I talk about ecommerce, I'm speaking as someone who lives it, not just consults on it.
Outside of that I run — and I mean that literally. I'm currently training for The Lap, a 75km ultramarathon that is exactly what it sounds like: a lap around Windermere. It's in September, which means my weekends currently involve a lot of long miles in the Lake District. I'm also a member of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue, and I spend as much time as possible in the hills and travelling when I'm not doing any of the above.
The other constant is my Land Rover Defender. I do as much of the maintenance myself as I can, which is a hobby in itself. I use it for overlanding — getting off the beaten track, exploring places you can't reach in a normal car, and spending time outdoors properly. With my wife and a six year old in tow these days it's less "remote wilderness" and more "interesting enough to keep everyone happy" — but that's half the fun.
This blog covers all of it — ecommerce, watches, running, overlanding, mountain rescue, and wherever the Defender takes me next.
